Middle School Math Teacher

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree (ideally in a related field); a Master’s degree is preferred but not required. Ability to teach geometry, and/or experience with basic computer coding, and/or Maker Space curriculum design and instruction is a plus. Teachers with experience in teacher mentoring, curricular design, and departmental leadership are encouraged to apply.

Administrative and Support Staff Positions
Athletics Director
Position Summary:
The TFS Athletics Director is responsible for all operations of the middle and upper school athletic programs with the following core responsibilities:

Collaborate with members of the school leadership team and human resources to recruit, evaluate, hire, onboard, support, evaluate, and develop quality faculty and coaches who will perform their duties professionally and informed by the school’s mission.

Motivate student athletic participation and leadership. Build relationships with students. Be part of the community life of the school.

Manage game-day operations; oversee scheduling of all athletic events, coordinate transportation, hire all game officials, and attend or enlist a school representative to attend all home games. Travel to away games as needed.

Ensure clear and frequent communications with coaches, families, students, and school staff.

Prepare and implement an annual departmental budget.

Be the primary administrator responsible for the functioning and appearance of the schools athletic facilities, including the field house, gym, and athletic fields.

Supervise athletic facilities after school hours, support practices as needed.

Oversee the distribution, collection, storage, cleaning, and repair of all school athletic equipment and uniforms.

Attend to VISAA league/GPAC conference business; foster positive relationships with competitor schools.

Support the Middle School physical education program as needed.

Director of College Counseling
Position Summary:
The Director of College Counseling is responsible for all aspects of the college counseling program. In keeping with our ethos as a school, we are looking for a professional who takes great joy in working with adolescents and helping to guide them and their families through the steps that take them into higher education and fulfilling lives of integrity, creative expression and service.
Core responsibilities:

Meet individually with juniors and seniors and their families throughout the college process, helping students and families select appropriate colleges and universities.

Develop and lead upper school programming for students to educate them and their families about the nuances of the college admissions process.

Support students in their submission of applications and manage the school’s submission of official transcripts, recommendations, report forms, and school profile, as needed.
-
Write counselor letters of recommendation for each senior (approximately 36 students).
-
Schedule and host college admissions representatives for visits to Tandem Friends.
-
Counsel and assist students and families as they identify resources for scholarships and financial aid for colleges and universities.
-
Manage PSAT, SAT and AP testing for students, including scheduling test dates, registering students, and administering exams.
-
Develop and maintain relationships with colleges through attendance at conferences, counselor information sessions, and college visits.

Participate in professional development to promote self-growth, build relationships, and remain current with programs, policies, and practices that meet the needs of our students.

Lead and implement a week-long “Senior Week” to support seniors in all aspects of the college application process.

Serve on the school’s Academic Committee and advise students, families and teachers regarding curricular and programmatic issues.

Director of Development
The Director of Development is the school’s principal fundraising strategist who works closely with the Head of School, the Board of Trustees, the development team, alumni, community members and volunteers to engage donors, build resources, and enhance the culture of philanthropy at Tandem Friends School. The Director of Development is responsible for designing and implementing multi-year giving, cultivation, stewardship and communications programs that optimize philanthropy in support of the school. The Director of Development serves as the chief fundraiser of the School, manages development department staff, is the primary liaison to the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, and assumes oversight for all aspects of the Development Office. The Director of Development will report to the Head of School and will join a dedicated leadership team collaboratively responsible for shaping the school’s practices, policies, and strategic direction.
Core Responsibilities

Develop forward-thinking, strategic priorities and plans to achieve goals and grow all areas of development–annual giving, major giving, capital/endowment giving, events, grants and planned giving.

Create annual fundraising plans and oversee implementation in all areas of development and in all constituent engagement areas (parents, board, alumni, grandparents, alumni families, etc.).
-
Develop and maintain relationships with the whole school community: colleagues, students, parents, grandparents and alumni, and fully participate in the life of the school.

Recruit, train, support and manage volunteers in philanthropic activities.
-
Develop and manage a portfolio of leadership Annual Gift and Major Gift prospects.
-
Partner with the Head of School, Director of Major Giving and key volunteers to strategize about donor prospects and crafting gift opportunities. Oversee necessary prospect research and summaries. Prepare the Head of School and key volunteers for solicitations.

Supervise the work of the development and engagement staff including Advancement Associate, Director of Annual Giving and Director of Major Giving.

Serve as liaison to the Advancement Board Committee and attend Board meetings as directed by the Head of School. Produce development reports for the committee and board.
- Manage departmental budget, act as liaison between development and business office and produce reports, maintain and report data on time, and reconcile monthly to ensure gift and expense records are correct in both offices.
- Engages in cultural fluency work and supports the School's diversity, equity and inclusion values and policies and practices.
- Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications Team and other appropriate colleagues to draft and publish school-wide fundraising communications including, but not limited to, solicitation and campaign materials, an alumni newsletter, and an Annual Report.
- Represents Tandem Friends School at local and regional mission-related events.
- Serve as a member of the Leadership Team and Administrative Team and others as needed or directed.
- Other duties as needed and assigned by the Head of School.
